Based on the opening of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge,Zhuhai airport has provided the shuttle bus to Hong Kong airport through Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.This service actually connects the domestic network of Zhuhai airport with the international air routes of Hong Kong airport,making Zhuhai airport a new gateway airport that does not directly operate international air routes.With the support of the new gateway service,passengers who travelling outbound China’s mainland may reach Zhuhai airport by domestic flights,then to Hong Kong airport through the Bridge,finally to foreign destinations by international flights.This transfer mode can be summarized as “air-bridge-air” path.This path involves the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the ground connection between two airports so it is very different from the direct flight to Hong Kong or transferring at Shenzhen airport.In this paper,attributes of the “air-bridge-air” path are considered in the path choice model to explore the impact of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on the choice of path linking multi airports.This paper proposes a path choice model integrating the latent class model and multinomial logit model.The demographic characteristics,travel experience and path choice data of passengers are collected from the RP/SP survey.Besides,the traveler innovativeness is also induced to evaluate passengers’ endogenous preference for “air-bridge-air” path.The model estimation indicates that the path choice model with three latent classes performs best when considering passenger innovativeness.According to segment-specific characteristics,three segments are named “direct-flight-prefer passengers”,“high-innovativeness passengers” and “cheap-tickets-prefer passengers”.The “directflight-prefer passengers” can accept higher price and prefer time saving travel.Passengers with high innovativeness show strong interests in the “air-bridge-air” path.The “cheap-tickets-prefer passengers”have more negative attitude to the ticket price.To quantify the influence of significant factors,we calculate the elasticity and WTP(Willingness to pay)value and find characteristics of “air-bridge-air”path have significant influence on passengers’ travel behavior.In addition,the first class passengers are most sensitive to the frequency of buses and their willingness to pay is higher the other two classes passengers.Passengers with high innovativeness are most sensitive to permitted transfer time.The third class passengers balance prices and permitted transfer time and their willingness to pay is the lowest.Finally,several strategies are put forward to attract “high-innovativeness passengers” and “cheaptickets-prefer passengers”,which provide a reference for the new gateway service of Zhuhai airport.
