The term "bookstore" first appeared in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty,and has existed in the long river of history for more than two centuries since its appearance."Bookstore",as its name implies,refers to a store used to sell books,magazines and other products.It is an important place for spreading cultural ideas and popularizing knowledge,and represents the culture and image of a city.In recent years,online bookstores have risen rapidly in the book industry with their massive online resources and low price advantages.They have occupied most of the book sales market within a short period of time.In response to this phenomenon,major domestic bookstores have responded to the bookstore space.And the business model is transformed and upgraded.At present,most new bookstores are divided into different spaces.The combination of diverse spaces not only reflects the development trend of bookstores under market competition,but also reflects the changes in consumers’ psychological needs.Renovating and designing the bookstore space can re-excavate its potential cultural value,commercial value and public value.It can not only increase consumer experience and attract more consumer groups,but also help improve the city’s cultural soft power.This research started with a new type of physical bookstore,after comprehensively analyzing the space design of the new type of physical bookstore at home and abroad,combined with the psychological needs of people in modern society for reading space,the Zhengzhou Book Center was transformed.The Zhengzhou Book Center is the Xinhua Bookstore.Like most Xinhua bookstores,this bookstore has a large space,but the interior layout design is backward and the decoration style is old.Although it is located in the prosperous area of Zhengzhou,it is rarely asked by people.The Zhengzhou Book Shopping Center should change the original single business model and add new functions to become a place that can meet the diverse needs of consumers,and realize a one-stop experience of book shopping,entertainment,leisure,and catering.This research adheres to the design principles of "advancing with the times,people-oriented,sustainability,practicality," and other design principles.In the renovation design,a reasonable structure and scientific layout are used to re-divide the original space of the Zhengzhou Book Center.The reformed Zhengzhou Book Center will share the bookstore space,reading space,and consumption space,bringing consumers a good emotional experience,making it not only of commercial value,but also humanistic features,and breaking people’s previous image of bookstores A single impression creates a new book center in Zhengzhou.
