| In recent years,the poor operation and frequent closure of physical bookstores have become phenomenal events.On the one hand,the rise of online retail and e-reading has seriously squeezed the living space of physical bookstores.On the other hand,the problems of its own operating costs and weak profits also make it difficult for physical bookstores.As a carrier of national cultural construction and a symbol of urban spirit,the survival of physical bookstores is closely related to us individuals,and the individual’s consumption upgrade of public space has brought a breakthrough for the survival and development of physical bookstores.The "new type of physical bookstore" is in the context of consumption upgrade,combining functions to meet the diversified needs of consumers,enriching the spatial form to meet their experience needs,and organizing cultural activities to connect a wider range of customers,which is different from the traditional bookstores with books as the core,but another type of bookstores with people as the core.In the process of surviving,bookstores constantly realize that only by using the bookstore space to realize the physical and psychological connection with customers can its advantages be brought into play.In the field survey,it is found that the current bookstore still lacks consideration of the behavior habits and actual needs of various users,which is mainly reflected in the following aspects: 1.Spatial layout: unreasonable area allocation and lack of flexible design of some business areas lead to unbalanced space utilization;2.Spatial organization:insufficient consideration of the relevance of various functional formats,resulting in excessively long movable line or mutual interference;3.Facilities layout: lack of pertinence,whether it is the type of facility or the form of facility layout,lack of special consideration for different user groups,resulting in dissatisfaction with desire or low attendance rate;4.External space: problems such as large scale,lack of detailed design and connection with urban public space.The research takes the new physical bookstore in Dalian as the main research object,and conducts research from two aspects: the physical space environment and the behavior and needs of customers in the store:(1)In the aspect of physical space environment,classify physical bookstores according to the service population and operation mode,and summarize the location selection,functional format ratio of various types of bookstores,and the current spatial characteristics of each bookstore;(2)In the aspect of customer behavior and demand in the store,firstly classify the customer groups.Secondly,use environmental behavioral methods such as fixed-point recording and movement tracking to explore the static and dynamic location preference and behavior pattern characteristics of various customer groups.Finally,the questionnaire is used to explore the psychological appeals of the customers to these bookstores,the semantic analysis method is used to quantify the customer’s satisfaction evaluation of the bookstores.Combining the results of the above research to draw the conclusion of this paper.Firstly,from the perspective of architectural planning,make a clear value function positioning of various physical bookstores,and discuss the configuration mode of each function format under this positioning;Secondly,put forward optimization suggestions for the spatial combination mode of physical bookstores;Finally,from the three dimensions of "people-books","peoplespace" and "people-people",a refined design strategy for each functional space of the bookstore is proposed,and the trial transformation design of each area is carried out on the research case,so that theory is combined with practice,in order to provide a reference for the spatial development of the physical bookstore. |
