The Memorial Significance Explore Of Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage From The Pierce’s Semiotics

With the acceleration of China’s urbanization process,the problems of "homogenization" and "westernization" of landscape design are become normal.Chinese traditional garden is an important material and cultural heritage of China.As a cultural manifestation,the mountain、stone、pavilion and water all of them are contain rich Chinese cultural genes.The couplet plaques in the garden space show humanistic interest and charm everywhere.From Pierce’s semiotic theory,poetry(symbol)is a carrier of meaning,and garden is a "text" composed of various landscape symbols.For thousands of years,the mountains,stones,flowers,pavilions and pavilions in Du Fu’s thatched cottage have been symbolic combinations selected under the commemorative meaning through the interpretation of Du Fu’s poetry.Tourists receive the meaning of the symbol in the process of viewing the cottage,combining their own interpretations to derive the new meaning.These behaviors shaped the Dufu thatched cottage culture in Chengdu.The process of constructing the meaning of that cottage is the proof of the "triad relation" by Pierce.Therefore,taking the actual scene and poetry of Du Fu’s thatched cottage in Chengdu as the research objects,the related theory in Pierce’s semiotics was used to study the meaning generation of Du Fu’s thatched cottage.At the first,search and screen the poems writing by Du Fu,the poet who lived in the Thatched Cottage of Chengdu for nearly four years,and collect the poems written in the surroundings of the cottage,also summaries the spiritual quality of the Du Fu and the initial environment in the Thatched Cottage;secondly,based on the characteristics of the continuous spread and superposition of semiotic meaning,it shows us how the Du Fu Thatched Cottage has developed from the "one acre " to the current scale of the construction of the Ancestral hall garden in Sichuan;furthermore,the motivation of the landscape construction of thatched cottage garden is explained through the Pierce semiotic theory "object,representation,and interpretation";At the last,based on Pierce’s semiotics,the openness,diversity,dynamics,and community of symbols traits are used to analyze the Du Fu thatched cottages’ s meaning convey,so as to demonstrate the complementary relationship between landscape design and symbols in gardens.In this paper,through systematic research on the theory of "triad relation" and "trichotomy" mentioned by Pierce,Initially sorted out the formation mechanism of the memorial significance of Chengdu Du Fu Thatched Cottage,It is hoped that by revealing the process of the generation and transmission of symbol‘s meaning,it will provide new thoughts and new perspectives for the construction of monumental landscapes in sichuan west area.
