Research On The Investigation Andconstruction History Of Guangyue Towerin Liaocheng City

Guangyue Tower is located in the center of old town of Liaocheng City,Shandong Province,composed of a brick pier,an open porch and a wooden tower,is the landmark building of Liaocheng City,and it is listed as the 3^rdbatch of national relic protection units in 1988.The existing structure of Guangyue Tower was built in the early years of Hongwu,Ming dynasty,it is a large-scale and early-aged building in ancient municipal buildings,retaining both the architectural legacy of the Song and Yuan Dynasties and the official architectural style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.There exist various records about its building age in the literatures of past dynasties and the viewpoint that it was built in the 7^thyear of Hongwu,Ming Dynasty was commonly held by academia.In this thesis,the methods such as current status mapping,literature research,¹⁴C dating,tree species detection,repair trace records were adopted to study its building age and history and cognize the changes of its building appearance.The thesis is divided into four chapters.In the 1^stchapter,the research status of Guangyue Tower is reviewed,the shortcomings of existing research is summarized and the achievements in related fields are drawn on to clarify the research ideas of this thesis.The2^ndchapter is survey report,the form of its timber structure was generalized based on the mapping data,also the timber frame,component features and repair traces of Guangyue Tower are recorded.By means of 14C dating and tree species detection,the correspondence between some components and the past repairs is analyzed combined with related historical and geographical background knowledge.In the 3^rdchapter,the urban construction of Liaocheng City is introduced and it is manifested that the existing structure of Guangyue Tower is built in the early years of Hongwu through literature research,also the history of its construction was combed.In the 4^thchapter,the components and forms changed in later generation were clarified based on the analyze results above and the contemporaneous case comparison,and the appearance of the main structure in the early years of Hongwu was deduced.
