With the development of society, the fabricated buildings and its advantages are receiving more and more attention.Modular building,as a new building system, has a high degree of prefabrication. It has been developed and researched for many years, and has significant advantages such as green environmental protection, low energy consumption, high construction efficiency and less labor demand.Considering the long distance transportation,a new type of packaged box module is proposed. However, due to its cold-formed thin-walled asymmetric cross-section,the lateral resistance of the box module under horizontal load is different from that of the traditional module. And the joint between the column and the top and bottom frame is a bolted end-plate connection, which means that the influence of the semi-rigid joint on the lateral resistance needs to be studied. In addition,in order to promote the application of multi-storey and high-rise modular buildings in earthquake-resistant areas,it is necessary to explore suitable modular structure systems for high-rise module buildings. In this paper, the lateral resistance of three packaged box module is experimented to obtain the lateral stiffness and bearing capacity. Then observe the stress state of the key parts, analyze the force performance at the joints and the influence of the wall on the stiffness. The results show that the packaged box module is softer than the traditional container-like module. The local instability of the column end needs to be optimized. The beam-column joint has an opening angle and the node is semi-rigid.The module with enclosure has a skinning effect. Then, the finite element analysis of the packaged box module is carried out,and the results are compared and analyzed to verify the rationality of the finite element model. The semi-rigid coefficient of the internal nodes of the packaged box module is obtained, and the contribution of the wall is discussed. The calculation method of the initial rotational stiffness of the joint is derived. After that, the analysis is performed from the overall structural layer considering the semi-rigidity of the joint. The influence of the semi-rigidity on the lateral resistance is clarified.Analyze and compare the differences in the lateral resistance of the modular structural system with traditional rigid nodes. Finally, the structural system analysis of high-rise steel modular buildings is carried out to explore the differences in calculation results when different anti-side systems are used at different heights. The application scope of various anti-side systems is obtained, which provides a reference for the selection of high-rise column load-bearing modular building systems.
