Research On The Spatial Narrative Design Of Memorial Hall Of Historical Events

Memorial hall is the materialized carrier of human memory and emotion,carrying important functions such as recording,warning,education,communication and so on.With the progress of science and technology,the memorial hall is no longer a traditional“expressionless” display space.Compared with the design based on the space function,spaces of the contemporary memorial hall cares more about how to convey the commemorative thoughts,emotions and spirit,how to preserve,update and continue the public’s historical memory of the public.Memorial Hall of Historical Events is a kind of memorial hall that focusing on “events”.Historical events always have huge backgrounds,intricate content,and complicated story lines,and even different in different contexts.Therefore,compared with other types of memorial buildings,Memorial Hall of Historical Events have stronger narrative needs.And with the change of information transmission mode,the function of Memorial Hall of Historical Events needs to be changed accordingly.The traditional rational layout,flow arrangement,functional layout are no longer applicable to today’s Memorial Hall of Historical Event,combining narrative thinking to expand space design is becoming an important methods for contemporary Memorial Hall of Historical Events to comply with the development of the times.The research of this thesis can be divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction in the first chapter,which put forward a thesis,analyzes the research background and meaning,combs the basic concepts and theories involved,determines which research methods will be adopted in this article to conducts innovative research from the perspective of spatial narrative for the Memorial Hall of Historical Event.The second part is the research summary in the second chapter.It organizes and analyzes the research results of space narration in multiple fields which including museums,memorials,and exhibition spaces.Organized research on Memorial Hall of Historical Event including classification and characteristics,narrative changes,current status and so on,provide a rich theoretical basis for the classification analyzes of the spatial narrative design of the Memorial Hall of Historical Events below.The third part is the classification analysis in the third,fourth and fifth chapters.Based on the different narrative methods,analyzes the narrative text,spatial organization and spatial experience which has been established from the linear narrative and network narrative.And analyzes the nonlinear narrative design in space in the fifth chapter,so as to study the adaptive narrative methods that used in the Memorial Hall of Historical Events.The fourth part is the sixth chapter.Based on the previous research,this parts makes a comparative analysis of different types of space narrative methods,and puts forward the principles and methods of multi-dimensional space narrative design of Memorial Hall of Historical Events.
