Wood is a natural and renewable material with high strength to weight ratio and good processing property.At the same time,because of its low energy consumption and low carbon dioxide emissions,wood is also one of the environmental protection building materials.Steel is light,strong,ductile and recyclable,but usually,when steel columns are subjected to axial pressure,they undergo overall or local buckling before reaching strength failure.In this paper,a kind of steel-wood composite column is proposed,in which the T-shaped steel column is enclosed by planks.The planks provide lateral constraints for the steel column to avoid the premature buckling of the steel column.The main purpose is to improve the bearing capacity and stiffness of the steel column.In combination of the stud spacing,the diameter of the bolt,the thickness of the board,web plate bolt single and double row number as a parameter,to a single change of the parameters of the composite column,set of nine pillar of combination,and the axial compression test,observe the longitudinal displacement and wood and steel column under axial compression strain changes,analytical column failure mode,The influences of bolt spacing,bolt diameter,thickness of board and number of single and double rows of web bolts on the stiffness and ultimate bearing capacity of composite column were discussed.The coordination of steel and wood composite column was studied with yield strain.The results show that when the number of bolts in a single row is 6,the number of web bolts in a double row and the thickness of the board is the same as the width of the stiffener,the combination effect of steel-wood composite column is the best.ABAQUS was used to model the composite column and perform numerical analysis on it.The load-displacement curve obtained from the test was compared with the numerical simulation results,and the analysis results showed that the numerical simulation results were in good agreement with the experimental results,indicating the rationality of the numerical simulation of this test by ABAQUS.By pure steel t-shaped column buckling judgment method,combining with the characteristics of composite column with steel as the main stress components,with reference to the existing bearing capacity of concrete filled steel tubular axial compression theory calculation method,superposition method,puts forward the simplified formulae for calculation of limit bearing capacity of composite column,the formula for the t-shaped steel and wood composite load-carrying capacity calculation and test results are close to,can provide a reference for practical engineering.
