With the revitalisation of the countryside proposed in the 19 th National Congress, rural tourism has become more and more popular. The traditional village of Hormu in the Hanas River Valley,as a treasure of the Chinese vernacular, has a unique charm in terms of its natural landscape, humanistic folklore and settlement form,so it is imperative to study its spatial and architectural form as well as the future development of tourism. The thesis focuses on researching and collating historical data related to the village of Hormu in the Hanas River Valley, comparing the spatial forms of traditional villages similar to Hormu, and using this as a basis for future development research. It is hoped that a new perspective on the traditional settlement of the village of Hormu in the Hanas River Valley will be gained. The thesis aims to promote the historical and cultural traditions and landscape of the area, firstly by proposing a future development path from primary to tertiary industries from the perspective of the natural environment and cultural background of the Hanas River Valley.By analysing the natural landscape, folk culture and history of the area, the regional characteristics and formative context are explored, which have a positive effect on the architectural and cultural heritage conservation of the traditional settlements.Secondly,it discusses the unity of the spatial layout of the settlement and the differences in the morphological structure of the settlement, starting from the settlement space, public space, courtyard space layout and architectural monoliths of the traditional settlements in the Hanas River Valley. The content mainly includes the analysis of the distribution characteristics of traditional villages and the layout structure of the selected site;the internal spatial characteristics of villages such as street space, public building layout and node space;the analysis of courtyard composition, spatial layout and elemental characteristics in terms of courtyard layout, and the analysis of building plan layout, building structure and construction, and details of decorative materials in comparison with the spatial characteristics of individual buildings in terms of building monoliths. Finally, the theory combines design ideas to discuss how the village of Hormu can be transformed for tourism development. The main elements are the upgrading of the overall spatial environment of the village, the inheritance and transformation of the public space, the reconstruction of the courtyard space and the inheritance and reconstruction of the architectural monolithic space. The aim is to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the traditional settlement of the village in the Hanas Valley, and to provide more help and ideas for future conservation and inheritance. It enables the villagers to enjoy more public products and public services, improve their material and cultural standards of living, and become more adaptable to the future path of tourism development. It is hoped that this will provide some basic information for future research on the development of ethnic traditional villages and grassland settlement tourism, and arouse awareness of the protection of traditional villages,as well as make some contribution to the protection and development of traditional villages.
