Research On Outdoor Space Design Of College Living Area Based On Environmental Behavior Theory

With the shift of college students’ life focus,college living quarters are not only responsible for satisfying the tasks of "housing" and "food" for students,but should have more new functions.In addition to indoor spaces such as dormitories,student canteens,and shops,the living area of colleges and universities also includes outdoor spaces such as small squares,gardens,and streets.As the study and lifestyle of college students are constantly changing,the demand for outdoor space in the living area is also constant Increase,so it is worthy of indepth study by designers.Based on the theory of environmental behavior,this article first introduces the basic overview of the college living area and defines the scope of the outdoor space of the living area from two parts: space components and design development direction,and determines the introduction of environmental behavior into the outdoor space of the college living area Designed research content.Secondly,the interaction between environmental behavior,outdoor space in the living area,and space users is discussed,and the relationship between the behavior patterns,psychological needs and outdoor space characteristics of the users in the outdoor space of the living area is sorted out and classified.The relationship provides theoretical support for the subsequent field investigation and design.Then,taking the outdoor space in the living area of the Dongfeng Road Campus of Guangdong University of Technology as the research object,the explicit behavior,environmental usage and cognitive needs of space users were investigated through behavioral map method,questionnaire method,and interview method.The general behavioral laws of the user in outdoor space,the user’s behavioral purpose,the evaluation and renovation of the space environment,and the deep demand of the individual user for space,verify the scientific nature of introducing environmental behavior into the outdoor space design of college living areas.Finally,based on the previous theoretical research and survey data,the design strategies for preserving the sense of space,guiding student behavior,dividing the priority of space reconstruction,creating flexible space,and transforming space functions are obtained,and will be applied to Dongfeng of Guangdong University of Technology.The four areas in the outdoor space of the living area of the Lu campus are designed and practiced in an effort to create a comfortable,sense of place,and always energetic outdoor space for students,so as to promote learning and exchanges among students,and stimulate students’ passion and attitude towards life.Enthusiasm for learning,and continuous participation in the construction of the campus environment.
