The construction industry is one of the pillar industries that contribute to China’s national economy.The rapid development of China’s construction industry has promoted the growth of its building curtain wall industry.At the beginning of the 21 st century,China became the world’s largest producer and consumer of building curtain wall.Nowadays,there have been more and more building forms with free-form surfaces.The traditional two-dimensional technology is no longer able to be applied in such highly specialized and technically difficult construction projects.These projects must be realized by the building information modeling(BIM)technology.However,the BIM technology currently available in China lacks specific application standards and mature system references with regard to special-shaped building curtain wall.Hence,it’s of great significance to explore the procedures of rationally and efficiently applying the BIM technology to each stage of the full life cycle of special-shaped building curtain wall.With the special-shaped building curtain wall in China as the research background,this thesis explores the detailed application of the BIM technology in relevant projects from design to various construction stages,discusses the specific methods and procedures of applying the BIM technology during each stage,and points out the function and value of its application in special-shaped building curtain wall.Secondly,by analyzing the application of the BIM technology in an exhibition hall project in a specific city and summarizing corresponding experience,this thesis probes into the feasibility and necessity of applying the BIM technology in actual projects,the purpose of which is to efficiently use the BIM technology to overcome difficulties in the implementation of special-shaped building curtain wall projects.Besides,this thesis points out the problems concerning the application of the BIM technology,providing practical experience and reference for the development of the3 D technology.In the end,this thesis analyzes the benefits generated by the application of the BIM technology in the case using the actual cost accounting and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation methods.Based on the benefit index,this thesis determines the evaluation results by analyzing the benefits in three dimensions,namely quality value,progress value and cost value,providing theoretical data basis and effective management strategies for the application of the BIM technology in other similar projects.Based on the above researches,the BIM technology has strengths to be applied to special-shaped building curtain wall projects,but it also has its weaknesses.Without professionals engaged in the secondary development of practical BIM software for special-shaped building curtain wall,the advantages of the BIM technology cannot be brought into full play.With continuous technological innovation and accumulation of practical experience,the special-shaped building curtain wall industry is bound to enter a new era.
