Research On The Promenade Space Of Wang Shu

After decades of reform,with the development of the economy,China’s construction industry also presented a prosperous scene.Such rapid development is accompanied by some new problems.The development of many cities ignores the inherent law of continuity and blindly follows the traditional architectural forms,which makes the traditional urban characteristics gradually disappear and brings about the inheritance of local architectural forms.Many new architects constantly explore how went up from the cultural connotation through actual creation of combining traditional and modern building.Wang Shu proposed "garden method" at the 1999 World Conference of Architects.“ How to return to the historical context ? ” Wang Shu gave his own answer.As the main part of the garden space,promenade space has always been the characteristic design focus of Wang Shu’s architecture.This dissertation selects some characteristic and representative projects of Wang Shu’s architecture and takes the promenade space as the research object.Firstly,this dissertation introduces the development of promenade space and related theories.Secondly,this dissertation discribes the promenade space of Wang Shu’s projects and introduces the relevant concepts,and analyzes the material factors in the promenade space of Wang Shu’s buildings from the perspectives of shape,scale,light and interface.Then it analyzes the internal order of Wang Shu’s promenade space from the perspective of route organization,overall order type and space design method.Combined with the design of traditional Jiangnan gardens,this dissertation analyzes the "garden method" embodied in the promenade space of Wang Shu’s projects,and makes a comparison with traditional gardens.Furthermore,by comparing with other architects’ projects in different backgrounds,this dissertation analyzes the differences and evaluates the selection of Wang Shu.In the end,this dissertation gives an evaluation of the promenade space for traditional architecture,and summarizes the defect of the dissertation.
