By meticulously sorting and classifying the works with ramps in < Le Corbusier Complete Works>,and combining with the concrete analysis of the ramps, this paper attempts to analyze and interpret the ramps in Le Corbusier works from four different aspects.Firstly, trying to reveal the purpose of Le Corbusier in introducing ramps into his works, from Le Corbusier’s early years and the motivation implied in his early architecture creation.Le Corbusier’s early experience became the opportunity for“ramp” to be gradually generated in his works. The attention to the traffic components and the emphasis on the internal movement in Le Corbusier’s early works, were integrated by the ramps which combined form and function in his later works.Secondly, the ramps in Le Corbusier’s architecture works are sorted out according to different forms. And the reason for the classification are also discussed. From this classification, trying to clarify two questions: One is the reason why different types of ramps appear, and the other one is about the relationship between different types of ramps and the form of overall structure in different buildings. After sorting and summarizing, the ramps in Le Corbusier’s architecture works are put into eight types:single-flight,folding,arc,U-type,crisscross,serpentine,ear-type and spiral ramps.Different types of ramps have different functions in the building. And the different functions are closely related to the formal characteristics of ramps themselves. Then, starting from the positions of the ramps in buildings, trying to explain how they participate in the layout.Learning that there are six kinds of relations of the positions: inclusion, tangency, intersection, separation, penetration and integration. On this basis, the function of ramp and its relationship with the overall form, are analyzed to further reveal the influence and function of the ramp in the specific building. Finally, from the perspective of order organization, four representative cases are selected to illustrate the role of ramps in participating in and organizing the spatial order of Le Corbusier’s architectures.Through the above analysis and discussion, the process of establishing the ramp elements in the "Promenade Order" is presented. And the roles in the organization of the "Promenade Order" are revealed.
