| Since the reform and opening up,China’s urbanisation and industrialisation have been progressing rapidly and the economy has continued to grow. The Guangzhou-Foshan region, located in the core hinterland of the Pearl River Delta,is at the forefront of China’s industrialisation and urbanisation. After decades of development, these traditional villages have suffered from poor industrial structure, sloppy land use, unreasonable functional layout and fragmentation of the ecological system. The survival of traditional villages is under threat. At present,China advocates the transformation of development and the path of sustainable development, and the countryside is also in a period of accelerated transformation. The traditional villages affected by industrialisation are more prominent in the process of their transformation and development,so it is extremely urgent to study the industrial transformation and spatial reconstruction of the traditional villages affected by industrialisation in the Guangfo region.Firstly,on the basis of identifying the value and special characteristics of such traditional villages in the Guangfo region, the article compares the history of their industrial development, the current situation and problems of industrial development,as well as the history of the spatial evolution of the villages, their current situation and problems.Through the various traditional villages,Shawan Beicun is selected as a typical case for this paper to study the interaction mechanism of industrial transformation and spatial evolution of traditional villages in the Guangfo region. Then, based on the real situation of the industrial and economic development of Shawan Beicun, the development history of Shawan Beicun is divided into three stages:traditional agriculture-led,industry-led and tourism transformation, and the industrial development of Shawan Beicun in each stage and the spatial evolution characteristics under the industrial transformation are analysed, and it is concluded that there is a clear correspondence between the industrial transformation and spatial evolution of Shawan Beicun.Secondly, the industrial and spatial development of the other traditional villages in the Guangfo region that have been affected by industrialisation are analysed to show that the industrial transformation and development of this type of traditional village in the Guangfo region is the combined result of the interaction between the internal dynamics of the village and external variables.By studying the relationship between industrial transformation and spatial evolution in traditional villages from both direct and indirect aspects,it is concluded that industrial transformation and spatial evolution are mutually complementary and causal, while the spatial subject "people" is an important element in the industrial and spatial operation system. Finally, through the analysis of the internal and external factors affecting the industrial development of such traditional villages in the Guangfo region,it is concluded that the transformation of traditional villages into an industrial structure with tourism as the leading industry is an inevitable trend in their industrial development. The spatial reconstruction of these traditional villages should be based on both conservation and development,so that the industrial development and spatial evolution of traditional villages can form a good interaction. |
