Shape Display Design On Data Interaction Based On Firefly

With the rapid development of computer technology,digital modeling technology has become increasingly mature.Powerful software functions make the model construction more efficient and the visual effects more realistic,but the tangible models are still indispensable in the architectural design process.However,the production of traditional handmade models always takes a lot of time and is not easy to modify,due to the lack of direct connection between tangible models and digital models.As the interaction technology and programming applications prevailing in the design field,after a lot of case analysis of shape display,the author takes the interaction between the digital model and tangible model as the starting point to conduct a research design of the shape display on data interaction,aims to provide a controllable design tool to help realize the rapid generation of the tangible model from digital model.Firefly is a plug-in for the Grasshopper platform,which is specifically used to implement the communication between Grasshopper parameters and Arduino microcontrollers.This article is to establish the connection between the digital model and tangible model through the Firefly plug-in.Once the digital model in the computer is determined,the tangible model will be generated in real time.The article first summarizes the technical difficulties of shape display by combining related cases.Secondly,the elaboration of shape display on data interaction is carried out from the aspects of installation construction and interaction realization.Finally,the practical application of shape display in architecture design is discussed through examples.Compared with the single-use handmade model,shape display can reflect the changes of the digital model in real time,and it is reusable and easy to modify.It may not be able to compare with the complex shape and meticulous degree of the handmade model,but its high-efficiency and real-time generation can still play a large role in the early stage of architecture design.
