With the rapid development of China’s international engineering,the overseas employees of Chinese state-owned enterprises are constantly increasing,so the management of overseas employees is becoming more highlited.As the bridge between the headquarter and the project,the overseas employees play the important role of project specific management.It is not possible to engourage the overseas emplyees by material means merely in state-owned enterprises as the management of overseas employees has its special characteristics.The introduction of career calling in international engineering management plays an important role in the human resource management practice of overseas employees in the field of international engineering.Based on the theory conservation of resource,the thesis selected overseas employees in Chinese state-owned enterprises as the research object,on the basis of literatures reading hypothesized about the relationship between career calling,psychological capital and work engagement.The thesis collected data from 227employees(international engineering overseas)through the Calling and Vocation Questionnaire(CVQ-12),the work engagement scale(UWES 9)and the psychological capital scale(Psycap-24)by questionnaire survey method and verified the hypotheses through SPSS 22.0 and plug-in to analyze sample data.The results demonstrate that after controlling for the independent variables,the career calling can promote the psychological capital,besides the psychological capital and its four dimensions such as self-efficacy,hope,optimism and resilience partly play the mediating role in the relationship between career calling and work engagement.The results highlight the leverage of career calling on work motivation.It can improve their accumulation of psychological capital,increase its work motivation and achieve the management goals to cultivate the employees’ career calling.This thesis provides a case study for the secularization and sinicization of career calling,provides a new thinking pathway for improving the work engagement of overseas employees in state-owned enterprises and promotes the interaction research between career calling and psychological capital in some degree.This thesis is an exploration of the research on career calling in the field of international engineering and enriches the applied field of career calling research.The thesis conclusion provides the theoretical basis and empirical basis for the intervention work of overseas employees in the field of international engineering,complements the application of positive psychology in human resource management in the field of international engineering and provides the direction for improving the physical and mental health of overseas employees and improving their work engagement in practice.
