A Study Of The Features Of Multiple Related Design In Carlo Scarpa’s Works

Architecture is not just a combination of isolated materials and components,but a carrier associated with land,society,history,culture,religion,art and people,etc.Before reading the design works,the author hopes to raise the field of vision and place the original isolated images and works in a larger space to observe,in order to obtain the building itself and various factors of the association characteristics,so as to understand the form and appearance behind the designer’s real intentions and causes.In this context,the author chose the design works of architect Carlo Scarpa as the object of study,and tried to discover his multiple related features of various types of works,such as glass crafts design,exhibition design,landscape design,historical architectural renovation and new architectural design,connecting the inner(content and form)and external(the environment and background of the project),the appearance(the form of expression)and the inclusion(the true intention of the design).The core chapter includes: Environment and place——the local associated design features in Scarpa’s works;History and renewal——the time-related design features in renovation building;Exhibition and viewing——the associated design features in the exhibition space;Materials and components-the associated design characteristics in the Scarpa construction node.Whether it is urban context and local environment of Scarpa’s works,and the close connection and time dialogue between history and present in the remodeled building,or the exhibitions thingness,spaces and viewing dialogues established in exhibitions design,or the construction nodes that clearly express the associated characteristics through the separation of materials and components,from the breadth of geography to the length of time,from the dimension of space to the depth of detail,all reflect the various related design features contained in Scarpa’s works.After combing through the design features of multiple related designs in Carlo Scarpa’s works,the author will explore the design value thinking with multiple correlation characteristics,and take a design competition as a practice to seek the characteristics of the associated design.
