Reconstruction Strategy Research Based On Rainwater Recycling In Chaoshan Dwellings

Abstract/Summary:
Water shortage,water pollution,water logging disasters and other water-related problems emerge in endlessly in both urban and rural areas nowadays in China.As an economical and effective water resource,rainwater has become a breakthrough to solve those problems.Most of the experimental objects of rainwater recycling in China are urban high-density residential quarters and large-scale public buildings,but lack of research and practice in traditional dwellings.A large number of traditional residential houses are widely distributed in Chaoshan area,meanwhile,this area faces a variety of water problems.This paper explored the potential of Chaoshan traditional residential houses on rainwater recycling,strategies were put forward and Fuanli,a traditional residence,was taken as an example to carry out the miniaturized and integrated rainwater recycling system.The purpose of this study was to alleviate the condition of water shortage and renew the vitality of traditional residential houses.Firstly,the theoretical research and practical achievements of rainwater recycling were analyzed,regional space form and rainwater treatment mode of residential houses were studied.With the conception of low-impact development,corresponding rainwater strategies were put forward.Then the equipment and ecological facilities were determined,combining modern technologies with traditional houses.Finally,Fuanli,a traditional compound dwelling in Chaoyang District,Shantou,was selected for the design of rainwater recycling system.According to the morphological characteristics of internal simple courtyard and overall compound settlement,rainwater utilization forms were adopted respectively.The calculation results of rainwater recycling design in Fuanli show that the amount of rainwater can be collected exceeds the amount that the family actually needed,no matter it was collected in a simple courtyard or in a large-scale compound settlement.Rainwater recycling measures can effectively reduce water logging and conserve underground water resources,besides,living environment and microclimate would be modified by taking sustainable rainwater management measures such as swale and rain garden.The key techniques are deducing the feasibility of rainwater harvesting and recycling scheme according to the specification and local rainfall data;determining the rainwater garden dimension according to annual runoff control rate;calculating the amount of rainwater savings based on the principle of water balance.In conclusion,it is of great significant to vigorously popularize the rainwater harvesting and recycling system in the traditional residential area of Chaoshan,which has a large population and severe problems of water resources.
