Isolated intersection is the basic unit of urban traffic management and control.At present,the basis of isolated intersection signal timing is represented by Webster’s delay theory.Although many subsequent traffic engineering researchers have made a lot of improvements on this basis,but still do not consider the quantitative impact of land development factors around the intersection,so this paper proposes an isolated intersection traffic timing method based on urban land use.The main research contents of this paper include the following aspects:Firstly,the paper summarizes the research progress of signal timing delay theory,urban land use and traffic planning at home and abroad.Compared with the traditional method,the advantages of urban land-use based traffic timing method and the quantitative relationship between land-use and traffic volume are obtained.Then,the signal timing method based on urban land use is determined.The land around the intersection is divided into several plots according to the entrance road,and the intersection information,land use information and traffic volume information are collected respectively.Calculate the basic parameters of land use intensity coefficient and land use mixing degree coefficient of each plot,as well as the land use indexes of land use intensity correction coefficient and land use mixing degree correction coefficient of each plot.Then genetic algorithm is used to solve the land use fusion correction coefficient for the specific intersection and traffic volume with the goal of minimizing the total delay of the intersection.Using the land use fusion correction coefficient to modify the weight given to the design traffic volume of different entrances,get the design traffic volume data required by the optimized timing,and use the Webster timing method to calculate the timing.Finally,an intersection in Xuzhou City is selected as the research object to conduct case study.According to the two groups of traffic volume data,the revised design traffic volume is taken as the input volume,and the signal timing is carried out by using the Webster timing method.The simulation software VISSIM is used to simulate the intersection timing scheme before and after correction.Five important traffic flow performance indexes are obtained,which are the average travel time,the average number of vehicles passing,the average delay time,the average parking time and the average parking times.The results show that the isolated intersection signal timing scheme based on land use can improve the operation efficiency of the intersection and optimize the signal timing of the intersection.In this paper,the urban land-use factors are introduced dynamically in the form of quantitative indicators for the first time,and applied to the intersection traffic signal timing.And this method is of great value to the study of the relationship between traffic control and land use at the following isolated intersection.
