This paper introduces common background knowledge of intersection, mainly describes traffic control design principle ,such as signal timing and lane channelization. It also summarizes the same point between signal timing and lane channelization in nature and illustrates that it is optimal cycle length and signal phase that is the critical part of signal timing. Based on the theory of signalized intersection,one of intersections of Beijing city is anatomized,which capacity and service level under current traffic control scheme are worked out. We find that the traffic control scheme of the intersection is outdated and give a new scheme based on field observations. The rule that Beijing city signalized intersection need renew traffic control scheme timely is put forth ,and its reason is analyzed further.Then design signalized intersection microscopic simulation software in order to optimize signal timing. The paper introduces its whole idea,framework and flowchat,summarizes some gains and problem during programming and brings forth suggestion for future work. At the sametime, how to study bus priority strategy on the basis of the software is conceived as the groundwork of intelligent traffic control. Public transportation priority strategy is not only an important part of intelligent transportation and embody humane transportation intention,but also a necessary method to ensure public transport prompt during Olympics.City intersection is the joint of road network, which plays an important role in road capacity and service. It is very important and valuable that we should try our best to manage city intersection traffic control and dig deeply current traffic resource so as to improve intersection capacity and debase delays and queue length. The paper does a little work on the study field for promoting designing and controlling civil intersection intelligently and integratively.
