A Preliminary Study On The Architectural Atmosphere From The Perspective Of Construction

Atmosphere is a perceptible phenomenon,and the architectural atmosphere will affect people’s experience of architecture.Influenced by traditions of rationalist,architects usually tend to ignore some perceptual things like atmospheres.Since the modern architecture movement,the users’ sensory experiences of architecture has been flattening.Nowadays,architects began to try to change this situation,which requires architects to pay attention to rational things like function as well as perceptual things such as atmosphere which can affect users’ emotions.As an essential aspect of architecture,construction is closely related to architectural atmosphere.Construction can help architects understand the atmosphere more clearly.From the perspective of the relationship between construction and atmosphere in history,construction technology can determine the architectural atmosphere,and the architectural atmosphere can reflect the culture of construction.In recent years,with the increasing attention of architects to the experience of architecture,especially in the face of the more possibilities brought by the digital age,how to create an architectural atmosphere has become a problem that architects have to face.In this context,this paper takes technology and culture as two implied clues,discusses the relationship between atmosphere and construction,and analyzes the corresponding projects,aiming to inspire the creation of contemporary architectural atmosphere.The first chapter of the thesis is an introduction,setting out the background and research significance of the topic,and sorting out and summarizing the relevant literature.The second chapter explains the basic concept of atmosphere and discusses the influence of atmosphere on architectural experience.The third chapter combines construction and architectural atmosphere from the historical perspective,analyzes the influence of construction technology on the construction atmosphere in different periods according to the time sequence,as well as the related construction culture behind it.Chapter four and Chapter five start from the two aspects of "construction technology" and "construction culture",and combine the relevant practices of contemporary Chinese and foreign architects to analyze the architectural atmosphere from the perspective of construction.The fourth chapter focuses on the relationship between construction technology and atmosphere.Structure,materials and equipment not only meet the functional requirements,but also affect people’s architectural experience and play a decisive role in architectural atmosphere.The fifth focuses on the embodiment of the atmosphere to the construction culture.The atmosphere can reflect the zeitgeist and regional characteristics of the construction culture.Chapter six discusses the promotion of building atmosphere created by technological development in the digital age and the changes in construction culture displayed by the atmosphere on the basis of the previous article,and makes a prospect for the architectural atmosphere in the digital age.
