A Study On The Design Method Of Modern Architecture In Asia

Based on the element of "ground" and "floor" in Asian modern architecture,three main categories-"environmental conditions"," the forms of living " and "construction consciousness" in Asia and their mutual influence are demonstrated in this paper.And practical cases are also selected to explore the design and construction methods of modern architecture with regional characteristics of Asia,including the tradition of "living on the ground"."Environmental conditions"," the forms of living " and "construction consciousness" of Asia are selected as influencing factors,and four special phenomena reflected in modern architectural design in Asia are taken as clues.Further,the modern architectural design methods in Asia is explored from three aspects: "floor design as a special perspective to understand Asia","design dominated by the environmental conditions and the forms of living " and "design dominated by environmental conditions and building consciousness".First of all,the special consideration to the use of modern floor technique given by architects when it was introduced into Asia is briefly explained.Secondly,four phenomena related to the living and construction of Asian floors-"ground light and shadow","floor with ground characteristics","construction with environment","construction with framework and facilities" are concluded,and specific cases are taken as the object to investigate how Asian architects carry out floor design under the influence of "life-environment" and "building-environment",so as to understand the potential design methods of Asian modern architecture.Finally,floor and ground are used as a clue to apply the aforementioned design methods to specific projects in order to explore the possible adaptability of this research under contemporary environmental conditions.The selected cases in this paper are mainly concentrated in parts of East Asia(Japan),Southeast Asia(Indonesia,Cambodia,Thailand),South Asia(India,Bangladesh,Sri Lanka)and West Asia(Turkey,Iran),with the time span from 1950 to 2010 basically.There are about 45,000 words and 212 images in the text.
