Growing economy, flourishing industrial estates and increasing demand of luxurious life styles thriving on energy requirements, which in turn is making it expensive and unsustainable.Solar energy and particularly solar thermal technologies are promising solution towards the sustainability of energy demands and specifically for heating without global heating. In this research a solar water heating system is modelled and analyzed in TRNSYS? simulation studio. An evacuated glass tube solar collector is used in aforementioned system using indirect-forced circulation of working fluid. All the essential parameters of the system including mass flow rate, fluid type, connecting pipes lengths, heat exchanger type and material and size of heat exchanger tubes;are analyzed and studied in detail while selecting optimal values for size of collector area, tank height, tank volume and collector to volume ratio.Parameters of system components are optimized in first set of simulations and solar fraction is chosen as the parameter to be optimized as it gives the performance of whole system instead of any single component in systemIn second stage optimized parameters are used to analyze the performance of system with different natural and synthetic working fluids. At the end of the study, system performance is evaluated in different cities with different climate by using available weather data in TRNSYS? library and all simulations are performed hourly and then monthly or annual efficiencies and solar fractions are exhibited. The implemented system is designed to fulfil the hot water demand of a single-family home with fixed demand of 260 litre/day.It is determined that zero energy utilization roadmap can be traced out with green heating technology without any adverse environmental impacts.
