Study On The Regeneration Of Rural Public Space Based On Critical Regionalism

Rural public space is an important field for the generation of social order in rural changes.It plays an important role in the development of rural areas.Traditional architectural methods and daily life models have created regionally appropriate technologies which are suitable for their construction environment.This regional appropriation has not only built not only establishes the connection between people and the countryside,but also helped protect the natural and social environment.Moreover,it helps strengthen the sense of belonging and identity.The regeneration of rural public space,as an important part of the use of cultural heritage,is facing the problems of gradual shrinking.Disappearance,construction of "homogeneity".In that case,it is necessary to study the combination of society,regionality and technology to enhance the healthy development of rural public space.This thesis takes rural public space as the research object,analyzes and summarizes the existing studies including theoretical research and practice of rural public space domestically and internationally.Based on the theory of critical regionalism,it copes with the problems of "modernization" and "regional" development of rural public space.This thesis demonstrates the main ideas in following ways.First of all,it combines it the context and core ideas of critical regionalism theory,summarizing the attitudes and methods of critical regionalism towards regionality,and studying characteristics of design under critical regionalism through classic case studies.Through,summarizing and analyzing the characteristics and functions of rural public space,the regeneration of rural public space could be studied from four aspects: critical thinking,regional critical inheritance,genius loci,and appropriate materials and technologies.Secondly,the current status of rural public space in China is sorted out,based on the perspective of critical regionalism theory.It summarizes the specific problems in the regeneration of rural public space in China from following three aspects: regionality,genius loci,materials and technology.And it determines the factors that affect the regeneration of critical regionalist on rural public space.Thirdly,design principles are proposed based on reproducible factors which have the impact on rural public space;and from the three aspects including space territoriality,genius loci,materials and technology,specific design strategies were obtained variously.Finally,the proposed design strategy was applied to the practice of regenerating rural public spaces in the ancient fishing village ofLao Shan Island on Chaohu Lake,based on critical way of thinking which showed the regional characteristics of ancient fishing villages.specific regeneration ideas and measures are raised from these three aspects : the regional regeneration of material space,the spiritual regeneration of ancient fishing village sites,and material technology.It is proved that the value and significance of applying the theory of critical regionalism for the current rural public in China in the field of space regeneration.I hope that this study will provide a reference for the development of rural public space in China.
