Research On The Construction Of Genius Loci In Huizhou Traditional Village Public Space

With the advancement of urbanization and the development of tourism,the blind renewal and transformation of traditional villages ignores the protection of the structure and function of places.Traditional village public space,as the carrier of villagers’ daily communication activities,has some problems,such as insufficient communication places,disappearance of cultural characteristics,exhaustion of space vitality,etc.,which leads to the weakening of village vitality,the destruction of collective memory,thus losing the intrinsic motivation of protection and development,and the hollowing out of traditional villages and the lack of place sense,etc.How to activate traditional village public space,create Genius loci of traditional village public space,and strengthen local residents and tourists’ experience of traditional village public space is of great significance to the sustainable development of traditional villages.In this paper,Huizhou traditional villages are taken as the research object,guided by Genius loci theory,and Genius loci created by Huizhou traditional villages with strong life atmosphere and good protection is taken as the research content.By means of literature analysis and induction,field investigation,comparative analysis,graphic analysis and other methods,this paper makes an in-depth study,and interprets the influencing factors of Genius loci in Huizhou traditional villages’ public space.Get the idea of creating Genius loci from the order and integration of material elements,the authenticity and continuity of humanistic elements,and the locality and interaction of place activities,and put forward a set of principles of integrity,regionality and participation that are suitable for creating Genius loci in Huizhou traditional village public space,as well as three specific strategies,namely,the darning and updating of place activities,the extraction and reconstruction of regional characteristics,and the continuous weaving of historical situations,and demonstrate the rationality and feasibility of the strategies with examples.The creation of Genius loci,the public space of Huizhou traditional villages,is conducive to shaping the sense of place of traditional villages,and is an important way to show regional characteristics and improve the quality of space,so as to retain the original residents and attract tourists.
