Container sea-rail intermodal transportation is the development trend of international freight commerce driven by global trade and low-carbon economy. The most important factor affecting the service quality of sea-rail intermodal transportation is the well connection between maritime terminals and the railway stations. However, due to the railway handing lines not introduced into most container terminals, the space integration of facilities and equipment of different transportation modes is insufficient, and a transshipment operation between terminals and stations conducted by trucks is required, which greatly restrict the development of container sea-rail intermodal transportation. How to make effective resource utilization strategy, optimize the connection scheme between container terminals and stations, and achieve complementary sharing of infrastructure within the region are the key issues to improve the efficiency of operation organization of sea-rail intermodal transportation, reduce the comprehensive transportation cost, enhance the matching degree of the supply and demand for transportation service, and optimize the transportation structure in the hinterland. This paper focuses on the connection scheme between container terminals and railway stations within the region.First of all,on the basis of summarizing the researches on container sea-rail intermodal transportation, sort out the research ideas and framework of the paper.Secondly, define the concept of the connection between terminals and stations, analyze the operation organization process between terminals and stations in different situations, and discuss the influencing factors and key technologies of the connection between terminals and stations.Thirdly, consider the difference between the time value of container cargo and the demand for transportation service.Aiming at minimizing the comprehensive transportation cost composed of carrier’s operating cost and shipper’s time cost, under the constraints of time, volume, capacity and equipment connection, establish the optimization models of the connection between single terminal and station and the connection between multiple terminals and stations respectively.Design the corresponding genetic-simulated annealing algorithm to solve the problem, and get the optimized connection scheme including the schedule of railway freight train, the train capacity allocation plan, the arrival ship unloading plan, the operation equipment configuration plan. Finally, take the long-term development of Nansha Port and Zhongshan Port as the background, carry out a case study to verify the effectiveness of the model and algorithm. The experimental results show that after the optimization of the connection modal between single terminal and station and the connection between multiple terminals and stations,in the planned period(5 days),open 3 and 5 more trains respectively, reduce the time of containers in the port by 5,536.44 hours and 9,018.44 hours respectively, and reduce the comprehensive transportation cost by about 84,000 and 116,000 yuan respectively. Therefore, the optimization model between terminals and stations can realize the infrastructure sharing of ports and railways in the region, reduce the comprehensive transportation cost of all terminals and stations participating in the container sea-rail intermodal transportation, matching degree of the supply and demand for transportation service, reduce transit time and promote the long-term and stable development of container sea-rail intermodal transportation. There are 47 figures,27 tables and 69 reference literatures.
