Research On Soundscape Design With Health Function In Urban Waterfront Space

The urban waterfront space is the most dynamic public open space in the urban area.As one of the most important environmental elements,soundscape plays a key role in improving the environmental quality of waterfront space and creating a ‘health care place’ for people.Health care soundscape focuses on people’s auditory perception,which start with soundscapes,and takes urban waterfront space as samples.According to the different psychological feelings brought by the auditory phenomenon induced from different sound elements,as well as the corresponding behavioral manifestations,the ‘human-sound’ relationship is explored to determine sound elements with health care effects for people.Furthermore,the ‘sound-scene’relationship is declared which identifies the landscape elements and landscape layout forms that are conducive to the construction of health care soundscape.On this basis,in order to eliminate psychological fatigue,relieve mental pressure,and provide a positive rehabilitation place for people as the ultimate goal,this paper focuses on the design strategy of rehabilitation soundscape with scientific significance.Through field data measurement,questionnaire survey and on-site interview,the spatial environment characteristics and acoustic environment status of the research samples are investigated.Guided by the survey results,the key points of soundscape design for urban waterfront space are explored.Basing on the absolute role of natural benefits and the dual role of audio-visual perception,and taking the recreational behavior and psychological needs of tourists into consideration,a soundscape design is conducted.With the purpose of achieving the ideal soundscape effect,the effect of sound elements with recreational value is increased,and the environmental noise is controlled.By analyzing the relationship between human and sound,the types and characteristics of sound elements with rehabilitation effect in waterfront space are clarified.The coupling mechanism between sound and landscape is sorted out,and the landscape elements,space enclosure types and landscape layout forms that can affect soundscape construction in waterfront space are Specified.It is found that natural sound and all kinds of music sound are generally loved by tourists and have high healing effect.Natural sound has strong compatibility,and the integration with the same or different types of sound elements shows a positive effect.Water,terrain,plants,landscape sketch,terrain and pavement elements,as the common landscape elements in waterfront space,can become the influencing factors of healthy soundscape.In view of the dynamic and static sound scenic spots,choosing specific space enclosure type,using different forms of space enclosure,choosing the appropriate enclosure degree can not only play the guiding role of soundscape,obtain the ideal effect of soundscape,but also achieve the purpose of noise reduction.According to the landscape design procedure,the healthy soundscape design strategy is formulated.In the landscape planning stage,the strategy of dividing the dynamic and static soundscape scenic spots is used to give play to the ‘guiding role’ of soundscape.In the landscape space organization stage,the appropriate space scale,form and sound elements are selected according to the needs of the dynamic and static soundscape scenic spots.In view of the soundscape construction in the landscape design details,some suggestions are put forward,such as guiding,adding sound,retaining sound and cutting sound.The sound design mainly includes space dominant sound element selection,natural sound utilization,environmental noise control and characteristic underwater sound utilization strategy.In line with the people-oriented design principle,the idea of health care is integrated into the whole process of soundscape design.To be specific,the sound elements with significant positive impact are introduced and strengthened,and the sound elements produced in residents’ leisure activities are rationally utilized and optimized.Then the sound elements with significant negative impact in the internal and external environment of waterfront space are weakened and eliminated.Soundscape design is used to improve the environmental quality of waterfront space.The function of waterfront space should match the appropriate landscape elements and sound elements,and the time for recovery effect should be considered during design,so as to create more health benefits for tourists.
