With the continuous expansion of cities and the rapid development of social economy,science and technology,in some areas with low travel density in the periphery of the city,the lagging development of the public transportation system has led to a prominent contradiction between the supply and demand of public transportation travel.If the conventional public transit was allocated according to the urban standard,it would cause a waste of resources;if the standard was lowered,it would cause difficulty in traveling in the area.Facing the dilemma,flex-route transit has become a new way to solve the problem.Flex-route transit is a new type of public transportation that can effectively improve the current status of public transportation.It is not only low cost and high efficiency which is the merits of conventional public transit,but also has the advantages of flexible lines of demand-responsive transit.The effective combination of the two modes of transportation is a good supplement to the bus system in areas with low travel density.In order to promote the implementation of flex-route transit in China,this paper has studied the travel intention of flex-route transit passengers and vehicle route planning schemes.The main research contents are as follows:(1)Based on a large amount of domestic and foreign literatures,the classification,key parameters,operating rules,advantages and disadvantages of the flex-route transit system have been analyzed and a systematic overview of the overall operation of the flex-route transit system was given in this paper.(2)The RP-SP survey was designed based on the theory of travel behavior,and the travel behavior of residents taking flex-route transit has been classified and analyzed according to the results of surveys.Finally,an intelligent dispatching system was built,while a reservation platform was designed.(3)Based on the questionnaire data,Multinomial Logit models were used to quantitatively analyze the relevant influencing factors of flex-route transit travel intention.It was concluded that the main passengers of flex-route transit come from conventional public transit passengers,and the passengers have the characteristics of youthfulness and living far away from the bus station.This conclusion can also provide reference for the site selection and route layout of flex-route transit.(4)Based on the results of travel intention analysis,from the perspectives of passengers and bus companies,a reasonable flex-route transit route planning model has been built,and Artificial bee colony algorithm was used to solve the example route.Finally,it has been verified that flex-route transit has many advantages over conventional public transit in areas with low travel density.Meanwhile relevant suggestions for the development of flex-route transit were put forward combined with the previous conclusions.
