The role of guidance system at intersections is to help drivers to choose proper lanes when approaching intersections,so as to avoid traffic disorder and even safety problems due to wrong lane choice.However,lane configuration is more and more diverse,with gradual expansion of intersection area in urban arterial,under the number of entrance lanes increasing,the existing guide facilities such as traffic signs and markings did not meet the needs of lane choice by drivers,as well as the standardization and refinement of traffic management.Guidance system at intersections is a man-machine system.The effect of guidance system should be evaluated and improved from the point of view of drivers,and lay a theoretical foundation for improving setting the standard of traffic management facilities.This study aims at the usability evaluation method of guidance system at intersections.Theory of situation awareness is introduced,the structural model that associates the usability evaluation indexes and impact factors is proposed,and the quantitative model for the usability evaluation of guidance system at intersections is established by driving simulation.Firstly,the driving task approaching the intersection is divided into two stages and the composition of guidance system at the intersection is defined.By establishing a situation awareness model of intersections,this study expounds the mechanism of guidance system at intersections.This study defines the usability of guidance system and its attributes,analyzes the evaluation indexes of the usability of guidance system at intersections based on the situation awareness theory,and determines the measurement indexes and methods.The impact factors of the usability of guidance system are determined.The structural model of usability evaluation of guidance system at intersections is established.Secondly,a driving simulation is conducted to collect environmental and eye movement data.The reliability of the structural model is verified by multiple regression analysis and correlation test.By using chi-square test,one-way analysis of variance and independent sample t-test,this study analyzes the relationship between indicators and impact factors of the usability of guidance system at intersections,as well as the relationship between indicators,and the relationship between indicators and the usage of information,so as to preliminarily determines variables in data sets of effectiveness,perception efficiency,comprehension efficiency and satisfaction.The k-means clustering method is used to divide the results of the usability evaluation,and data sets for the quantitative model of the usability evaluation of guidance system at intersections are constructed by integrating variables.Finally,after the construction and decision of classification models,the decision tree model is selected as the model method to construct the quantitative model of effectiveness evaluation,and KNN model is selected as the model method to construct quantitative models of perception efficiency,comprehension efficiency and satisfaction evaluation.The model evaluation indexes after parameter optimization show that constructed quantitative models perform well.
