Cultivar Classification For Cerasus In Nanchang City

Cerasus,a member of Rosaceae,contains abundant kinds of ornamental species.As one of the most widely cultivated ornamental plants in the world,it is a kind of tree with excellent ornamental effect,and has a very high ornamental value in garden application.The cultivars of Cerasus in Nanchang city were investigated,identified and classified systematically.The main results are as follows:1.Based on the field investigation of cultivar resources in Nanchang city in the past three years,10 species and 46 cultivars have been identified.The morphological characteristics of Cerasus species and cultivars were recorded in detail.A key to these species is provided.2.Nine new cultivars,C.discoidea‘Guanggeng’、C.pseudocerasus‘Guanggeng’ 、C.serrulata‘Changzonggeng’ 、C.serrulata var.lannesiana‘Tanhua’、C.conradinae‘Fene’、C.campanulata‘Changzonggeng’、C.campanulata‘Hongbing’、C.campanulata‘Changzhu’、C.campanulata‘Baixu’,were identified and described systematically.3.The principle and basis of cultivar classification is strictly in accordance with the latest International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants(ICNCP),from the morphological characteristics of cherry blossom,flower diameter,flower color,flower type,petal number,leaf shape,leaf color,fruit,calyx tube shape,and calyx tube hairy or not.4.Among the investigated cultivars,26 cultivars belonging to C.serrulata var.lannesiana,accounts for half of the total cultivars.These cultivars can be divided into five cultivar groups,Single Group,Semidouble Group,Double Group,Juban Group,and Taige Group.5.This paper discusses the application of cherry garden and the analysis of cherry culture connotation,describes and analyzes the characteristics of cherry tree type,flower color and flowering period from the aesthetic concept,so as to better utilize them in landscape architecture.
