A systematic statistical analysis of the distribution, changes, and drivers of economic forest resources can provide a guiding for the economic forests plan. For this, our study analyzed the ten-year changes in the area and the distribution of economic forests in Baise City by time series analysis and cluster analysis based on the economic forest area survey data of Baise City from 2009 to 2018.We also collected social development indicators for counties(districts)in Baise City from 2009 to 2018,and explored the impact of social factors on the economic forests in Baise City by regression analysis and variance partitioning analysis. The results of the study are as follows:(1)From 2009 to 2018,the total area of economic forest in Baise City rose from 286,800 hm~2 to 405,900 hm~2,with a linear growth, and an increment of 41.51%and an average annual growth rate of 4.61%were observed.Economic forests are mainly distributed in Youjiang District and Tianlin County. The economic forest area of these two counties accounts for 32.84%of the total economic forest area of Baise City. The economic forest area of Jingxi City and Pingguo City is less distributed, accounting for only 1.94%of the total economic forest area of Baise City.(2)From 2009 to 2018,the area of economic forest in all 12 counties(districts)in Baise City was increasing.Pingguo County,Tiandong County, and Tianyang District ranked the top three in terms of growth rate, with 160.00%,147.17%,and 114.63%,respectively.The increment in the area of economic forest in Pingguo County was mainly due to the substantial increase in the area of Camellia oleifera from 2016 to 2018(average annual growth rate of 1939.28%),and the increase in the area of economic forest in Tiandong County and Tianyang District was mainly due to the increase in the area of Mangifera indica.(3)In 2018,there were 43 kinds of economic forests in Baise City,of which the area for Illicium verum was the largest, reaching 130 thousand hm~2,accounting for 32.02%of the total economic forest area in 2018,followed by Camellia oleifera with an area of 82,700 hm~2,accounting for 20.39%of the total area of economic forest in 2018.Larger economic forest species included Mangifera indica,Vernicia fordii and Castanea mollissima, with an area of 697,000,418,000,and 37,800 hm~2,respectively.(4)Mangifera indica was the most concentrated and fastest-growing economic forest in Baise City, and it has developed rapidly after 2013.Mangifera indica in Tianyang District,Youjiang District and Tiandong County accounted for95.89%of the total Mangifera indica area in the city.During ten years, the area of Mangifera indica had the largest growth rate of 191.63%.The growth rate of Camellia oleifera was second only less than area of Mangifera indica, with a growth rate of 38.93%,while the growth rate of the octagonal is lower at 11.11%.The area for Illicium verum has stabilized in 2013-2018.(5)Area of Mangifera indica was the closest to social factors.Economy and population explained 83.0%of the mango area change.Economic factors had the highest explanation for variance of Mangifera indica area(independent effects was 57.6%),which is 53.3%higher than population. The regional GDP,the output value of the primary industry, the per capita disposable income of rural residents, and public fiscal revenue all contribute to the growth of area for Mangifera indica.
