| Purpose:In this study,acupoint catgut embedding was used as the treatment group and sham catgut embedding as the control group.The clinical randomized controlled trial was conducted to observe the changes of BW,BMI,WC,HC,WHR,F%,subcutaneous fat(SCF),visceral fat index(VFI),Total Cholesterol(TC),Triglycerides(TG),High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol(HDL-C),Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol(LDL-C)and the improvement in symptoms of obesity due to spleen deficiency and exuberant dampness by acupoint catgut embedding,to observe the clinical effectiveness of acupoint catgut embedding in the treatment of abdominal obesity and to analyze the action mechanism,so as to provide the basis and choice for clinical treatment of abdominal obesity.Method:Sixty patients who met the inclusion criteria of abdominal obesity due to spleen deficiency and dampness resistance were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group,30 cases in each group.The treatment group was treated with acupoint catgut embedding,and the control group was treated with acupoint sham catgut embedding,which was performed once every 2 weeks,twice as a course of treatment,with two courses in total,lasting for 8 weeks.Patients in both groups received basic treatment,including diet and exercise guidance.before treatment,four weeks after treatment,and eight weeks after treatment,obesity-related measurement indexes,blood lipid quartile and TCM symptom score were recorded and SPSS 26 statistical software was used for data analysis.Results:Body weight:After eight weeks of treatment,the BW and BMI values in the two groups were significantly lower than the baseline level before treatment(p<0.01).There was no significant difference in BW or BMI before and after treatment between two groups(p>0.05).Circumference:WC,HC and WHR between the two groups after treatment were significantly different from those before treatment(p<0.01);As for the inter-group comparison,there were significant differences in WC and WHR between the two groups after eight weeks of treatment(p<0.05).Body fat:F%,SCF,and VAI values of the two groups after eight weeks of treatment were statistically significant compared with those before treatment(p<0.05).No significant difference was found in F%,SCF,and VAI values between the two groups before and after treatment(p>0.05).Lipid profile:After eight weeks of treatment,the TC,TG,LDL-C and HDL-C levels of the two groups were significantly improved as compared with those before treatment.For inter-group comparison,TG showed statistical difference in the two groups after eight weeks of treatment(p<0.05).For HDL-C and LDL-C,the comparisons between the two groups after four and eight weeks of treatment showed significant differences(p<0.01).Scale scores:After treatment,the scale scores were decreased in both groups,and the symptoms related to spleen deficiency and dampness resistance were improved.There was a significant difference between the two groups after treatment(p<0.01).Conclusion:Both acupoint catgut embedding and acupoint sham catgut embedding could effectively improve the indexes such as BW,BMI,F%,WC,HC,WHR,SCF,and VFI.From the aspects of improvement degree and overall curative effect,the efficacy of the acupoint catgut embedding group was superior to that of the sham catgut embedding group.In addition,the acupoint catgut embedding had more advantages in regulating lipid metabolism,reducing visceral fat,and improving the symptoms of spleen deficiency dampness resistance,proving the superiority and effectiveness of the acupoint catgut embedding in the treatment of abdominal obesity with spleen deficiency dampness resistance. |
