Clinical Study And Vaginal Microbiology Research On Xiang Lian Gel For Vulvovaginal Candidiasis

ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical effectiveness of Xiang Lian Gel for vulvovaginal candidiasis and to observe the variation of vaginal microbiology before and after Xiang Lian Gel treatment.MethodsIn this study,block random and contrast clinical research methods were applied.Vulvovaginal candidiasis patients were divided randomly into trial groups and contrast groups.Patients in trail group were prescribed Xiang Lian Gels,which is applied to vaginal,at night after pudendum cleaning.While patients in contrast group were prescribed Clotrimazole vaginal tablets at night after pudendum cleaning.The Xiang Lian Gel treatment lasts for days while the Clotrimazole vaginal tablets are applied in the first day and the fourth day.Clinical symptoms,signs,vaginal discharge are collected before and after treatments so that the main index for clinical effectiveness and vaginal microbiology,such as pH scale,microbe flora density,microbe flora diversity,can be evaluated.Results6cases of vulvovaginal candidiasis patients were involved into this study.2cases were randomly divided into trial groups,while patients failed to follow up.The contrast group had 3 cases,however,cases were lost after treatment.Candida in vaginal discharge turned negative in 26.percent of cases in trail group and 63.percent in contrast group after treatment.The efficiency of the Xiang Lian Gel to convert vaginal discharge from candida positive to candida negative is lower than the Clotrimazole vaginal tablets,and statistical difference exists between this two groups.Scores of clinical signs and symptoms were both reduced significantly after Xiang Lian Gel treatment and Clotrimazole vaginal tablets treatment,and scores of clinical signs and symptoms after treatment had no remarkable difference between this two groups.Clinical effective rate is 26.1%and aggregate efficiency is 95.7%in trail group.The clinical efficiency rate and aggregate efficiency of contrast group is 63.0%and 92.6%.Statistical difference about clinical efficiency rate exists between this two groups while there is no essential statistical difference between these two groups in aggregate efficiency.As for the vaginal microbiology indicators,either the Xiang Lian Gel group or the Clotrimazole vaginal tablets had make significant effect on the bacterial density,the bacterial diversity,the LBG grade,the Nugent score,the pH scale and H2Oconcentration.There was no adverse event reported during the whole study.Conclusion1.Xiang Lian Gel has a good effect on vulvovaginal candidiasis,and this efficiency achieved mostly by alleviating clinical symptoms and signs.2.It is still to be studied whether the Xiang Lian Gel has positive effect on vaginal microbiology.
