Application Of Small Central Incision In Upper Eyelid Plastic Surgery

Objective To investigate the curative effect of double eyelid surgery,mild blepharoptosis correction and mild upper eyelid retraction correction through a small central incision of the upper eyelid,and to evaluate the clinical application of the small central incision in upper eyelid surgery.Methods A retrospective analysis of the surgical information of 98 patients who underwent upper eyelid plastic surgery from September 2018 to October 2020 in the Plastic Surgery Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of South China University.Those who are over 18 years old with thin upper eyelid skin,no obvious skin sagging,no bloated or mild to moderate bloated upper eyelid,single eyelid or unsatisfactory double eyelid fold,with or without mild blepharoptosis or mild upper eyelid retraction were selected.It is divided into the full-length incision group and the central small incision group according to the length of the upper eyelid incision used.We conducted statistical data analysis from five aspects:aesthetic results,recurrence rate,complications,patient satisfaction,and swelling on the 7th day after surgery,and compared the surgical efficacy of upper eyelid surgery in the full-length incision group and the central small incision group.Results There were 52 patients(103 sides)in the full-length incision group,including 40 cases(80 sides)underwent double blepharoplasty,8 cases(16 sides)underwent mild blepharoptosis correction surgery,and 4 cases(7 sides)with mild upper eyelid retraction correction surgery,with an average age of 23.7±4.0years old.There were 46 patients(90sides)in the central small incision group,including 35 cases(70 sides)underwent double blepharoplasty,8 cases(15 sides)underwent mild blepharoptosis correction surgery,and 3 cases(5 sides)with mild upper eyelid retraction correction surgery,with an average age of 23.6±3.7 years old.The excellent rate of aesthetic results in the full-length incision group was 71.15%,and the excellent rate in the central small incision group was 93.48%.The excellent rate of aesthetic results was compared between the two groups,P<0.05,the difference was statistically significant.The aesthetic effect of the central small incision group was better than that of the central small incision group.The recurrence rate of the fulllength incision group was 1.94%,and the recurrence rate of the central small incision group was 1.11%.The postoperative recurrence rate of the two groups was compared,P>0.05,the difference was not statistically significant.The recurrence of the fulllength incision group and the central small incision group was not statistically significant.There is no significant difference in postoperative recurrence rates in full-length and central incision.The complication rate of the full-length incision group was 20.39%,and the complication rate of the central small incision group was 2.22%.The postoperative complication rate of the two groups was compared,P<0.05,the difference was statistically significant.The incidence of posterior complications was lower than that of the full-length incision group.The satisfaction rate of patients in the full-length incision group was 86.53%,and the satisfaction rate of the patients in the central small incision group was 100%.Comparing the two groups of patient satisfaction,P<0.05,the difference was statistically significant.The satisfaction rate of patients with the central small incision was higher than that of the full-length incision.group.At 7 days postoperatively,the non-reduced swelling rate of the fulllength incision group was 96.15%,and the non-reduced swelling rate of the central small incision group was 23.91%.The non-reduced swelling rate of the two groups was compared,P<0.05,the difference was statistically significant.The swelling decreased faster than the full-length incision group.Conclusion We can perform double blepharoplasty,mild blepharoptosis correction surgery,and mild upper eyelid retraction correction surgery through the small central incision.The surgical results are accurate and beautiful,with the characteristics of slight scars and quick recovery.Patients have high postoperative satisfaction.In suitable conditions,it is worthy of clinical application and promotion.
