The Discourse Mechanism Of Internet Rumors In Public Health Emergencies

In recent years,the frequent occurrence of public health incidents has not only threatened the health of the public,but has also become an uneasy factor affecting social stability.With the rapid development of the Internet,the Internet has become a hotbed for the propagation and spread of rumors.After a public health emergency occurs,Internet rumors usually form a severely emotional and destructive force of public opinion,which not only interferes with people’s lives,but may also cause large-scale commotion and panic,which is harmful to social stability and national security.Will produce extremely bad effects.In the era of new media,Internet rumors have shown new characteristics in terms of text structure,discourse generation,and dissemination methods.The public’s recognition and the scope of dissemination have also been greatly improved.In this context,studying the discourse mechanism of online rumors in public health emergencies is conducive to understanding the generation strategies of online rumors,the factors that gain public recognition,the motivation for widespread dissemination,and the improvement of the government’s ability to respond to online rumors.This article takes the rumors of novel coronavirus pneumonia as an example,and explores the discourse mechanism of online rumors in public health emergencies from the three levels of text characteristics,discourse generation and dissemination.In order to clarify the process of its formation,dissemination and diffusion,on this basis,provide some ideas for the government to deal with rumors from the perspective of discourse.Research has found that online rumors related to public health emergencies have very rich codes,and they are good at using various coding strategies to construct the utterance meaning of rumors through discourse splicing and discourse extension.In the communication stage,by deconstructing the official discourse,awakening the collective memory of the public,and stimulating the consciousness of the public community,it is possible to survive and spread in the cyberspace,and then achieve the effect of triggering public recognition and achieving group mobilization.Internet rumors in public health emergencies have rich text characteristics and complex discourse generation and dissemination mechanisms.Therefore,the government should adopt a reasonable discourse response strategy during each stage of the generation,dissemination,and spread of rumors.Before online rumors are formed,they can publish relevant information in a timely manner to promote information disclosure,seize the dominance of discourse,and strengthen publicity and education,improve public media literacy,and stimulate the effect of herd immunity;after the rumors emerge,the government should seize the golden period of rumor rejection,On the basis of the public’s cognition,seek appropriate angles and use appropriate discourse to dispel rumors in a targeted manner,or introduce new issues to distract the public;when rumors have a greater impact in the public opinion field,the government should strengthen cooperation Communicate with the people,establish a complete information release system,and re-establish a collective trust system.
