Investigation On The Development Status And Needs Of Social Work Service In Mental Health Institutions

Objectives:To understand the current situation and needs of social work services in mental health professional medical institutions in China,understand the needs of different roles for mental health services in mental health social work services,and explore the level of self-esteem of social workers who provide mental health services in mental health professional medical institutions.And the issue of self-efficacy and the obstacles facing the current service development provide a basis for clarifying the development direction of mental health social work services.Methods:(1)The purpose sampling method is adopted to select 277 patients or family members and 632 medical staff from hospital managers,heads of social work departments and social workers in 78 mental health medical institutions nationwide.Using various versions of the self-made questionnaire "Questionnaire on Social Work Needs for Mental Health"(Head of the Ministry of Social Work),(Hospital Management Edition),(Health Care Edition),(Social Work Edition),and(Patients and Family Edition)for quantitative research.(2)Following the principle of information saturation,35 social workers who participated in the questionnaire survey and are willing to be interviewed are selected as research objects for qualitative research.Results:(1)There are 60 social workers(76.92%)in hospitals where hospital managers are located,and 18(23.08%)without social workers.The most social work services currently provided by mental health social workers are community rehabilitation services,vocational rehabilitation,resource links,cases for caregivers,group work services,and casework and group work services for inpatients.129 patients(46.57%)are very satisfied with the services of social workers,90 are satisfied(32.49%),42 are average(15.16%),and 16 are very dissatisfied(5.78%).(2)Among all the research objects,the services that mental health social workers should provide in order are psychological and emotional counseling services,mental health education services,individual cases,groups,community work,rehabilitation services,and family psychological services.The research object Chinese hospital managers,social workers,heads of social work departments and medical staff believed that the most important knowledge and skills that mental health social workers should possess are mental illness knowledge,psychological knowledge and skills,mental health related policies and laws.(3)There is a statistically significant difference in the needs of social workers in providing psychological and emotional counseling services in different regions(χ2= 3.954,P <0.05).Social workers in the central and western regions believe that the need for psychological and emotional counseling services is higher;social work in different regions The difference in the need for mastery of psychological knowledge and skills is statistically significant(χ2 = 8.436,P <0.05),and the need for social workers in the eastern region to master psychological knowledge and skills is more obvious.The difference in the needs of social workers in different departments for mastering psychological knowledge and skills is statistically significant(χ2 = 13.40,P <0.05).The social workers of the Party,hospital and clinical medical technology departments The demand is more obvious.(4)There is a statistically significant difference in the needs of medical workers in providing psychological and emotional counselling services and mastering psychological knowledge and skills in different regions(χ2= 9.173,P <0.05;χ2= 13.290,P <0.05).There is a greater need for services and mastery of psychological knowledge and skills.The difference in the needs of medical workers in different positions for social workers to master psychological knowledge and skills is statistically significant(χ2=10.612,P <0.05).Doctors and administrative staff think that social workers should have more psychological knowledge and skills.(5)Thematic analysis method is used to obtain 368 codes,and 5 topics are extracted from them,namely,"main services of mental health social work","the role,role and advantages of mental health social work","mental health society" Obstacles to work ","Self-esteem and self-efficacy of mental health social work "and" The situation of mental health social work ".The main services of mental health social work include university cooperation,home rehabilitation and professional rehabilitation services.The main roles,roles and advantages are helping others to help themselves and linking resources,which hinders the unclear positioning of functions and lack of supervision.At present,mental health social workers Self-esteem and self-efficacy are high,policy support is weak,and prospects are more tortuous.Conclusions:(1)Most of the surveyed psychiatric hospitals have mental health social workers.The most social work services currently provided by mental health social workers are mainly community rehabilitation services,vocational rehabilitation and resource links.Patients and their families are satisfied with the existing social worker services.Degree is high.(2)Mental health social workers have a high level of self-esteem and self-efficacy,however,it currently faces problems such as unclear functions,limited professional capabilities and lack of promotion channels.(3)In order to promote the development of mental health social work in China,relevant government departments should issue relevant policies and service specifications to clarify the responsibilities of social work in the mental health service system.
