| Purpose: To investigate the concentrations and correlations of TGF-βs in human aqueous humor and plasma of myopic patients. Methods: Thirty-eight patients with myopia were enrolled in this prospective study. All the patients were divided into 3 groups by axial length(AL).Aqueous humor samples and plasma samples were obtained during the ICL implantation surgery. The levels of TGF-β1,TGF-β2 and TGF-β3 in the aqueous humor and plasma samples were measured with Luminex x MAP Technology kits(the Milliplex x MAP kits). The protein levels and relationships of TGF-βs within the samples and AL were analyzed. Results: In 38 patients underwent ICL implantation surgery the median level of TGF-β1 in human aqueous humor was 19.97 pg/ml.The median level of TGF-β2 in human aqueous humor was 2446.00 pg/ml.The median level of TGF-β3 in human aqueous humor was 26.33 pg/ml.The median level of TGF-β1in plasma was 8984.00 pg/ml.The median level of TGF-β2 in plasma was 523.44pg/ml.The median level of TGF-β3 in plasma was 210.47 pg/ml.The differences in between AL groups in levels of TGF-β1 and TGF-β3 in human aqueous humor were found(P = 0.008,P = 0.015),which rose as AL increased. The correlation in level of TGF-β2 in between eyes were found significantly(P = 0.013).The correlation in between TGF-β1 and TGF-β2 in plasma were significantly(P <0.001).Conclusions: The concentrations of TGF-β1 and TGF-β3 in aqueous humor were strongly associated with the severity of myopia. The concentrations of TGF-βs in plasma and aqueous humor were not significantly correlated with the severity of myopia. |
