| COVID-19 has surely impacted our world in various ways. This virus has not only exposed the weaknesses of our systems, but also show the strength of some. This research attempts to gather information as to how China and Mauritius fared against this virus, and what Mauritius, and perhaps other countries, could borrow from the Chinese experience.Through a qualitative study,in this paper,we have made the usage of primary and secondary sources of information, deriving from intensive interviews and my personal own experience in China, journals and newspapers, respectively. In the comparative analysis part, the results show that China has done much better than Mauritius in many various ways. The elements, contributing to such a difference in result, are mainly the difference in political and economic structure, the strictness of lockdown, the varying degree of accountability of government officials in both countries, the usage of advanced technology by China, and the uniqueness of the Mauritian population.Lastly, the research shows that, although Mauritius and China are two highly different countries, various ideas could still be taken from the Chinese counterpart.Hopefully, this research could also further inspire other countries about the Chinese experience,by looking at the Chinese policies and application of technology. |
