Chinese traditional opera is an important component of Chinese music.Joy and sorrow of generations of the Chinese people are interpreted in this glamourous performance,which enshrines spiritual culture of the Chinese nation.The Ti-Qin Opera,which is mainly circulated in Southeastern Hubei,is named after the main instrument Da Tong or "Ti Qin" in local pronunciation.This Erhu-like stringed instrument is made by the folk artists.In the past 100 years,the Ti-Qin Opera is rooted deeply in the local masses.In the booming development situation,the Chongyang County Government of Hubei Province set up the first Chongyang Ti-Qin Opera Festival in 1992,and held every two or three years until 2017.The festival is the performance and award activities with highest standard and largest scale in Chongyang.The Ti-Qin Opera was included in China’s national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.The main content of this paper consists of three parts.The first part presents the research on the operational institution of the Ti-Qin Opera Festival and then make an analysis of the development and changes of the Ti-Qin Opera Festival.The second part is the research on the inheritors of the Ti-Qin Opera which analyses the inheritors impact on the development of Ti-Qin Opera and their attitudes toward the Ti-Qin Opera Festival after presenting the life experiences of different inheritors.The third part demonstrates the changes of the Ti-Qin Opera in the past 25 years through the comparison between the previous researches on the vocal styles and bands(performance groups)and the vocal styles and bands(performance groups)performed in the 10th Ti-Qin Opera Festival.This paper intends to receive a good insight into the relations among the Ti-Qin Opera Festival,the Ti-Qin Opera and the inheritors with the researches above.
