A Practice Report On E-C Translation Of Financial Text From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation Theory

With the flourishment of economic globalization,people attach great importance to world economic and financial activities.Economic operation modes and financial events in foreign countries shed light on our financial development.In view of this,the author of the present thesis chooses the E-C translation of the American Monetary System as the translation project for her present study.The author of the source text taught a senior level course in money and banking at the University of North Texas,and served as a consultant in a variety of consulting assignments in banking for 27 years.This book published by Springer International Publishing Switzerland in 2013 is an authoritative reference in this field so that its translated version is sure to be beneficial to both professionals and readers interested in financial activities.Based on the translation practice of the American Monetary System,the present author,adopting communicative Translation Theory as the theoretical basis,come up with some advice on the translation methods and techniques that can be adopted in the translation of financial texts through analyzing the difficulties in E-C translation.Therefore,an in-depth case study of it can be instructive in guiding the translation work of financial texts.The first part of thesis consists of an introduction of the research background,task profile,and purpose of the task.And then elaborates the text type theory proposed by Peter Newmark,and explains some issues in preliminary preparation of the translation,the translation process and the after-translation work.Subsequently,the author analyzes the language features of the source text and difficulties in translating financial texts.Finally the thesis takes examples of lexis,syntactic,and textual style to illustrate what translation methods and techniques are used to cope with the difficult problems in the translation process from the perspective of communicative translation.Stylistically,the source text is featured as a combination of both financial texts and textbooks,which should be reproduced and embodied in the target text.This study helps to understand the characteristics and translation patterns of financial texts in depth,and can also provide some reference for the translation of such texts.
