| At present,students’ oral output in English class is very little.Teacher feedback is an important bridge for teacher-student interaction in class.It can affect students’ oral output.However,the research on the influence of teacher feedback on students’ oral output is limited.So,how to adopt teacher feedback more effectively to improve students’ oral output is a significant problem.Based on the output hypothesis,interactive hypothesis and IRF model,the author uses the research methods of classroom observation and recording and questionnaire survey to study the effect of teacher feedback of a senior high school English teacher on students’ oral output in the classroom.By analyzing the observation and recording of 12 English classes in the second semester of senior two and 150 questionnaires,the paper investigates the types of feedback often adopted by teachers and the proportions of these kinds of feedback used in class.The research explores the influence of teacher feedback on students’ oral output in the current senior high school English classroom and puts forward corresponding teaching suggestions,hoping to provide some reference for high school English teachers in the use of classroom feedback.This study research some important questions: 1)What is the effect of teacher feedback on the amount of students’ oral output? 2)What is the effect of teacher feedback on students’ enthusiasm of oral output? 3)How do different types of teacher feedback affect students’ oral output?After the research,the main findings of this paper are as follows: Firstly,there is no positive correlation between the number of teachers’ feedback and the amount of students’ oral output.Secondly,the teacher’s classroom feedback will promote the enthusiasm of students’ oral output in terms of attitude and emotion.Finally,different types of teacher feedback have different effects on the amount and the enthusiasm of students’ oral output.Different types of teacher feedback have an impact on the amount and the enthusiasm of students’ oral output by giving students hints,encouraging them and creating opportunities for them.According to the research findings and data analysis,this paper puts forward the following suggestions: First of all,teachers should improve the effect of using feedback.Appropriate use of feedback is conducive to promoting students’ oral output.Secondly,teachers should be “student-centered” when using feedback.Thirdly,teachers should create a relaxed and pleasant learning atmosphere for students’ oral output by using teacher feedback suitably.Finally,teachers can use feedback skillfully to reduce the difficulty of the problem. |
