According to Chinese film historians,the early Chinese films took place from1905 to 1949.These films,mostly set in Shanghai,tell stories of traditional literature and drama as well as urban male and female feelings,which have a strong interest in the urban class and combine commercial,realistic,modern and revolutionary features.This paper selects the special historical period of 1932-1937,which has high research value and rich historical data.The author in 1932-1937 the underclass woman images in Chinese early films carding and research,found in the time of the national crisis and Shanghai modernization synchronization context,part of the women are in the business system from the appearance to break away from the traditional thought,the other part of the women in the political task is fable as national destiny,follow era and the call of the party’s expectation,evolved from the feudal traditional women in accord with qualified women of revolutionary struggle.This period of women image on the screen to present diverse styles,they both commercial and revolution of the double characteristics of sex,the two sides of the screen image comes from the may fourth enlightenment and the women’s liberation thoughts,the continuation of female image is the Shanghai’s commercial films,and is also a new women’s leftist intellectuals to screen design,deduce women in Shanghai space sensitized.This paper will discuss the underclass women in early Chinese films from three aspects: historical context,narrative strategy,fate and symptoms.This paper explores how the female images were constructed in early films in order to bring a new narrative for the study of the underclass woman images in early Chinese films.
