The Study On The Attributes Of Materials In Muti Material Paintings

With the continuous expansion of the art of painting,the practice of multi material painting has received more and more attention from the theoretical research and has been accepted by the public.The discuss of multi material painting in this paper starts from the comparison of five English compound words which all categorized as multi material painting in Chinese context,it is concluded that the most important characteristics of multi materials painting is the stress of physical attributes and cultural attributes of unconventional painting materials.The five English compound words are MULTI MEDIA PAITING,MULTI MEDIUM PAINTING,MATTER PAINTING,INSTALLATION PAINTING,MULTI MATERIAL PAINTING.As for the material attribute in the multi material painting,the physical attribute of the material is not limited to the physical category of science and Also the embodiment of cultural attribute is diversified,such as metaphor,cultural symbol,etc.The breadth of these attributes makes both cultural and physical attributes unique and complex in individual cases.Whether it is the huge narrative involved in the works of ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG from the 1960 s to the 1980 s,or the personal artistic language system involved in the creation of ANSELM KIEFER,they are both closely related to the cultural and physical attributes of materials.At the level of art produce and viewers experience,both physical and cultural attributes of materials can effectively construct a system.From the perspective of observation,this system can be embodied as a text system that is besides the art work.On the other hand,from the perspective of art produce,this system can be reflected in the correspondence between the physical attributes of the material and the text.Because of the complex relationship between the physical and cultural attributes of materials,the multi material painting shows its unique complexity and readability.This also answers the reason why the embodiment of material attributes is an important defining standard for multi material painting.
