Abstract/Summary:
As one of pioneers in the post-modernism,Borges attempted to convey a kind of spirit which life and death were included in each other.Borges uesd dreams to associat life with death and to break up the traditional perception of the relationship between life and death in some extnets. The mystique surrounding death had gone in writer and readers’ minds. In the traditional view, people tended to regard that life definitely was real and unique, the date of death was a deadline and a judgement for the whole life.It was scarcely to knowing well about paradise. Therefore human were frightened of death. However,Borges didn’t agree with this traditional opinion. In his works,he conveyed a fantastic conception that probably both of the real life and the realistic world were as illusory as paradise.By deeply discussing that the essence of life maybe just a dream,Borges dispelled the traditional conception of “death”and the gap between life and death. What’s more,Borges disconstructed the conception of“immortality” in dimensions of time and space, and then he created a new world——Tlon,in the guidance of his fantastic conception.Tlon was totally different with the realistic world in many aspects.Borges uesd it to challenge the realistic world and express his discont ent.Last but not list, borges talked about his new cognizance about identitiy in Tlon. After researching the new conception of the relationship between life and death in Borges’ fiction works,it can be realized that Borges was an wonderful writer. His creative thoughts had a plently of energy.Wish the paper could enrich Borges’ research in China.
