The traditional concept of Dai women in Xishuangbanna refers to the concept of women in the whole Dai society of Xishuangbanna when women are not empowered from the primitive matriarchal society to the feudal lord society.Starting from the cultural mechanism of the formation of the traditional Dai women’s view, this paper explores the ethical role and value orientation of the traditional Dai women’s view in Xishuangbanna based on the rich short and long narrative poems, proverbs, common sayings,Buddhist classics and Buddhist stories of the Dai people,so as to clarify the ethical characteristics of the traditional Dai women’s view in Xishuangbanna. It will start from two aspects: Women’s understanding of themselves and men’s attitude towards women. The formation of Dai’s traditional view of women is deeply influenced by its culture, which can be seen from its traditional text ethical narrative.Under the long-term mutual influence of Buddhism and primitive religion, the traditional Dai society has formed the code of conduct and moral norms of doing good and accumulating virtue, and the equality of all living beings, forming marriage customs such as "love freedom, marriage autonomy","monogamy" and "living from wife".From the traditional texts of the Dai,it is found that women play various roles in the traditional society of the Dai.They are the "inheritors" between generations, the "gestants" in the family community, the "communicators" in the neighborhood communication, the "servers" and "participants" in the religious life, and the "outsiders" in the education of the monk temple.Meanwhile, the traditional noble women of the Dai are in politics Life plays the role of "victim" and "adversary".The traditional Dai women have the right to own property, have no pressure to bear a son, have independence, and enjoy equal rights, family status and personality.Men and women can develop together, live in harmony and depend on each other. Therefore, this paper believes that the traditional Dai women’s concept has the characteristics of gender equality, compliance with the rules of gender differences, and in line with the purpose of gender harmony. Moreover, these characteristics are of the nature of Gender Ethics and emotionalism, and also the deconstruction of male centralism, because the traditional cultureof the Dai shows its refusal to regularize and standardize ethical life. When dealing with gender issues,we should emphasize the complex emotional relationship between moral subjects, the changing living conditions, and the ethical functions of customs and taboos. In the traditional Dai society, patriarchy has not been established, and women are not in the position of "the other".The traditional Dai society appreciates the charm of women.
