| This article studies the display of antiquities in the history of historiography by the famous European classical scholar Momigliano,it contains the evolution history,methods and related theories of antiquities.Momigliano’s description of antiquities reflects his historical thought,the foundation of historical methods,emphasis on evidence,to highlight the historical sense of truth.This paper consists of the introduction,the main body and the conclusion.The main body is divided into three parts.The first part is based on an article,Ancient History and the Antiquarian by Momigliano.To explore how he carried out the narrative study of antiquities.It includes two parts:the development of antiquities,and Mo’s narrative style.Among them the double line structure of Momigliano:the duality of antiquarianism and traditional history is an effective form of discussion.The second part explores two issues:the first question is the relationship between antiquarianism and cultural science at this stage.Including the relationship between antiquities and structuralism,sociology and anthropology.The next question is the link between Momigliano’s antiquities theory and other historical ideas,it mainly discussing its relation and difference with Hayden White,Croce,Foucault and Historicism.The third part,as a reflection of the author,to criticize Mo’s antiquarian theory.Criticism is divided into two aspects:on one hand,Mo’s personal limitations as a historian.On the other hand,the shortcomings of antiquities as a historical method.The conclusion emphasizes the different characteristics of antiquarian and traditional history.At the same time,he pays attention to the importance of evidence as a historian.This shows Momigliano’s truth-seeking attitude to history. |
