As a new teaching method,English picture book reading teaching has entered people’s vision.English picture book has many teaching objectives,advocates students’ all-round development,can fully excavate the connotation of pictures,and plays an important role in improving students’ oral English expression ability and cultivating students’ imagination.The unique characteristics of English picture book reading teaching accord with the cognitive ability and psychological characteristics of primary school students,can stimulate children’s interest in English learning,can well cultivate pupils’ comprehensive English language application ability,and lay a solid foundation for pupils’ future English learning.However,with the development of English picture book reading teaching,English picture book reading teaching goal setting is not comprehensive In teaching English picture books,teachers only pay attention to knowledge goals and neglect other teaching goals;English picture book reading teaching process is more emphasis on text than pictures;English picture book reading teaching still uses traditional teaching methods Teachers are still teaching English picture books;English picture book reading choice ignores students’ cognitive level.To improve the understanding of picture book reading teaching,to educate people,to establish a comprehensive picture book teaching objectives,to innovate picture book reading teaching methods,to select English picture books suitable for students to improve the quality of primary English picture book teaching,and then to improve the quality of primary English teaching.
