Effect Of Self-related Information On Stroop Effect And Its Mechanism | | Posted on:2021-09-05 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:Q Q Lin | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2505306197982069 | Subject:Basic Psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | | | Self-related information promotes cognitive processing and has been shown to have dominance effects on sensory perception,attention,memory,and working memory.Inhibition control,as an important component of executive function,can prevent irrelevant information from entering working memory.In order to ensure the speed of cognitive processing,psychological control of low-level and automatic basic cognitive processing can be carried out from top to bottom.Stroop paradigm is a representative paradigm of cognitive inhibition,which reflects the control ability of individuals.So,the relationship between self-related information and Stroop effect,and the mechanism of the influence between the two remains to be studied.In this study,the Stroop effect in the associative matching paradigm and the ego advantage in the Stroop task were discussed.In this paper,associative matching paradigm and Stroop paradigm were used to investigate the interaction between self-related information and Stroop effect and its mechanism.Study 1 consists of three experiments.Experiment 1 discusses the Stroop effect in associative perception matching when color-tag is presented simultaneously,and experiment 2a and 2b discuss the Stroop effect in associative perception matching when color-tag is presented successively.The associative paradigm first requires the subjects to learn colors associatively to themselves,friends and strangers,and then to make matching judgments on the colors and labels of color words that regulate semantics and color consistency.Results in experiment 1,there was an interaction between self-correlation and Stroop effect,and the amount of Stroop effect of self-associated colors was significantly lower than that of friends and strangers.The interaction of self-correlation and Stroop effect disappeared during successive presentation of labels and color words(experiments 2a and 2b).In study 2,the self-dominance effect in Stroop task was discussed.The color associative matching learning of the self and the stranger was carried out first,and the Stroop task was carried out after the color was endowed with the social significance of the self and the stranger.The purpose of experiment 3 was to explore the influence of self-related information on Stroop effect.It was found that the amount of Stroop effect of the color of self-connection was smaller than that of the stranger,which proved that the ego could reduce the Stroop effect.The purpose of experiment 4 is to further explore the mechanism of self-related information regulating Stroop effect,carry out associative learning,and distinguish the semantic conflict and reaction conflict between the two pathways of Stroop effect when doing Stroop task.Results no semantic or reactive conflicts were found in the self-regulated Stroop effect.In summary,the study found that the interaction between self-related information and Stroop effect was significant,and the interaction between self-dominant effect and Stroop effect was regulated by attention resources.Self-relatedinformation has an effect on Stroop effect,which can be reduced by promoting color control and processing. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | self-related information, Inhibition, The stroop effect, Associative learning | | Related items |
