People use facial features to understand more complex and subtle emotions or motivations that are not expressed through words,to achieve social interaction effectively. However, compared with normal developing children, children with autistic have great problems in communicating with others, especially in the recognition of facial emotions, which seriously affect patients’ interpersonal communication and social functions. Therefore, improving the facial emotion recognition defects of autistic children can improve their social communication and function, which will help them adapt to social life better.Through watching cartoon animations, which convey actions, sounds and expressions in daily life, individuals can understand the thoughts and emotions they express. The exaggerated actions and expressions of cartoon images increase the attention of autistic children and with the use of cartoon stimuli as an intervention material for facial emotion recognition training, autistic children can effectively improve their facial emotion recognition ability. The study analyzed and summarized the intervention experiments of facial emotion recognition at home and abroad, and adopted the pre-and-post-test design of the experimental group and the control group, and used the discrete trial training in the applied behavior analysis training to carry out corresponding intervention for the facial emotion recognition ability of autistic children.8 autistic children aged 5-10 years were selected as subjects, and they were divided into three experimental groups and one control group, with two persons in each group. The experimental group used real human, human cartoon and non-human cartoon facial expression stimuli to intervene the facial emotion recognition ability of 6 autistic children for 8 weeks, while the control group did not intervene 2 subjects. The whole intervention process is divided into baseline period, intervention period and stable period. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the test results before and after the experiment group, and the results of the post-test and the delayed test in each group were significantly higher than those in the pre-test,while there was no significant difference in the results of the pre-test,the post-test and the delayed test in the control. There were significant differences in facial emotion recognition between the experimental group and the control group, and the post-test results of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group. There was no significant difference between the use of cartoon stimuli and the use of real human stimuli. The results of the Autism Behavior Checklist and the teacher interviews showed that the subjects in the experimental group also improved in other aspects of their abilities. To sum up,different types of facial stimuli can effectively improve the ability of autistic children to recognize facial emotions, but different kinds of facial expressions of autistic children facial emotion recognition abilities increase had no obvious effect, and also, autistic children facial emotion recognition ability training can improve the development of autistic children other aspects ability.
