As an important part of social cognition, facial emotion recognition plays an important role in the development of individuals. However, facial emotion recognition disorder is prevalent in people with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD).This seriously affects the individual's development of social adaptation. As for the context, many studies focused on ASD on the isolation of facial emotion recognition. In real life, faces are always accompanied by emotional context. At present, studies concerning the effect of emotional context on facial emotion recognition mainly focus on context-related and context-independent aspects.Despite previous researches on these two aspects, researches focusing on context-independent are not deep enough. As for the adaptive behavior, the context effect of facial emotion recognition relates to the level of social adaptive behavior of ASD,but there is a lack of the context's research on the relationship between facial emotion recognition and social adaptive behavior. To fill this gap,the current study adopts context-independent to investigate the influence of emotional context on children with ASD.In addition, the current study investigates its relationship between facial emotion recognition and social adaptive behavior.Study 1:The 14 children with ASD were recruited at a clinic and 21 children with normal development(TD)were recruited from a kindergarten. The intelligence level and gender of the ASD group matched with those of TD group. The present study investigated the differences on the influence of emotional context between children with ASD and TD.Study 2:The 15 children with ASD were recruited at a clinic an 15 children with TD were recruited from a kindergarten. The intelligence level and gender of the ASD group matched with those of TD group. The current study investigated its relationship between facial emotion recognition and social adaptation level of the two groups.Furthermore,we wondered whether the level of facial emotion recognition of children with ASD and TD could predict the level of social adaptive behavior.Based on the analyses and discussions of the two above-mentioned studies, following conclusions were drawn:(1)Compared with the ASD children, children with TD had better performance.(2)For children with TD,when face and context emotion were matched, they had better performance than the condition of did not match;children with ASD were not affected by the influence of context information when recognizing facial emotion.(3)The two groups of participants had better performance when recognizing happy faces than fear faces.(4)Facial emotion recognition ability has remarkable effect on adaptive behavior and can predict ASD and TD children's social adaptation. However, there were differences in the focus of prediction between the two groups.
